Elizabeth J. Sandonato is Of Counsel at Martin Clearwater and Bell LLP, where she defends doctors, teaching hospitals, health care systems and other medical professionals in medical malpractice matters.
Ms. Sandonato has experience defending nursing home malpractice cases as well as general negligence cases in all phases of litigation.
Ms. Sandonato is a highly accomplished civil litigation attorney specializing in medical malpractice, nursing home negligence, and general negligence lawsuits for over 16 years. She is an experienced strategist with an exceptional ability to identify case issues, strategize defense, and obtain successful and pragmatic outcomes.
Ms. Sandonato successfully brings matters to resolution through mediations and settlements and has a very high summary judgment motion success rate. She has tried medical malpractice, nursing home negligence, and general negligence cases to verdict in various counties in New York.
Ms. Sandonato also brings risk management experience from the client’s perspective to the MCB team. As senior claims counsel in the risk management department for one of New York’s largest medical systems, she was responsible for managing a large caseload for several hospitals. She has extensive experience collaborating with leadership within hospitals on potential claims as well as discovery and quality issues. She has also presented lectures to hospital staff regarding litigation pitfalls.
Ms. Sandonato received her J.D. from St. John’s University School of Law in 2001 and her B.A. from Binghamton University in 1998. She is a member of the New York State Bar Association.
