Texas Judge Issues Injunction Suspending Overtime Rule:
Yesterday, a U.S. District Court in Texas enjoined nationwide the U.S. Department of Labor’s white collar exemption regulations that were to take effect on December 1st. The DOL regulations would have made approximately 4.2 million employees eligible for overtime by increasing from $23,660 to $47,476 the threshold yearly pay employees must receive before they can be classified as exempt from receipt of overtime pay. In a public statement the DOL indicated that it is evaluating its options, including a potential appeal of the Court’s ruling.
