Each has demonstrated outstanding legal skill and dedication to their clients. We appreciate their contribution to the success of our Firm, and congratulate them on this well-deserved professional achievement.
Kathryn R. Baxter began her legal career at Martin Clearwater & Bell LLP as a law clerk in 2014. From there, her superb research and analytic skills helped propel her to Associate, Senior Associate, and now a valued Partner of the Firm. Her practice focuses on defending physicians, hospitals, healthcare systems and academic medical centers in medical malpractice matters. Prior to joining MCB, she gained experience in several internships, most recently at the Office of General Counsel of a prestigious medical center. There, she helped to draft hospital policies and best practices, and developed risk management presentations for specific medical groups. Kate received her B.A. from University of Missouri in 2007. She went on to receive her M.S. in Health Care Ethics from Creighton University in 2011, and her J.D., cum laude, from New York Law School in 2014. She is admitted to practice in New York, New Jersey, and the United States District Courts for the Eastern and Southern Districts of New York.
Gregory A. Cascino has been with Martin Clearwater & Bell LLP since 2017, previously as Of Counsel, and now as a Partner in the Firm's Appellate Practice Group. With more than 18 years of experience in appellate practice, he has briefed and argued appeals in all Departments of the New York State Appellate Division. Impressively, Greg is credited with over 190 reported Appellate Division decisions. Greg has represented a wide range of clients, including medical professionals and hospitals, as well as municipalities and school districts in claims involving personal injury, defamation and property damage. Additionally, he has had significant experience in defending commercial litigation and subrogation claims, as well as claims alleging Labor Law violations and premises liability. At MCB, Greg is a member of the Firm’s Publications Committee and has published articles in the Firm’s newsletter. He has also participated in client presentations. Greg received his B.S. in biology from the State University of New York at Geneseo in 1998, and his J.D., cum laude, from St. John’s University School of Law in 2001, where he was an Articles and Notes Editor of the St. John’s Law Review. Following law school he served as a confidential law clerk for the Hon. John T. Elfvin in the Western District of New York, and as a Court Attorney for the Appellate Division, Second Department. He is admitted to practice in New York and the United States District Courts for the Eastern and Southern Districts of New York.
Jason F. Kaufman joined Martin Clearwater & Bell LLP in 2016, and after having served as a Senior Associate, he is now part of the talented team of Partners at the Firm. His practice focuses on defending doctors, teaching hospitals, university medical centers, and nursing rehabilitation centers in a wide variety of medical malpractice matters. Prior to joining MCB, Jason worked as an associate attorney for a New York law firm where he managed all aspects of civil litigation, including defense of hospitals and health care professionals. Jason received his B.A. from Syracuse University in 2011, and his J.D. from New York Law School in 2014. Concurrent with his legal studies, Jason completed two legal internships and served as a research assistant for case law supplement publication. He is admitted to practice in New York and New Jersey.
Amy E. Korn joined Martin Clearwater & Bell LLP in 2015. Previously serving as a Senior Associate, she is now a respected Partner at the Firm. She defends a broad variety of clients in medical malpractice matters, including physicians, hospitals, health care delivery systems and academic medical centers. Prior to joining MCB, Amy was an associate attorney at a New York law firm where she represented lenders and financial institutions in residential and commercial real estate disputes and specialized in tax lien foreclosure litigation. Amy received her B.A. from Indiana University in 2008, and her J.D. from Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law in 2013. She also completed an internship at the Economic Justice/Matrimonial Project, where she assisted domestic violence victims in obtaining economic support, child custody, and divorces. Amy is admitted to practice in New York, New Jersey, the United States District Courts for the Eastern and Southern Districts of New York, and the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey.
Michael B. Manning joined Martin Clearwater & Bell LLP in 2015. Progressing from Associate to Senior Associate, and recently to Partner, he has defended doctors, hospitals (including specialized children’s care hospitals), regional trauma centers and nursing homes in a variety of medical malpractice matters. Mike also has experience defending healthcare, residential and municipal facilities and entities in general liability matters. Immediately prior to joining the Firm, Mike was an associate attorney in the motions department, and subsequently in the affirmative litigation department, of a litigation defense firm in Brooklyn. There, he handled myriad aspects of litigation defense, including evaluating liability and medical defenses, and assessing damages. He also completed legal intern/externships in 2012, developing keen research, analytic, and legal writing skills. Mike received his B.A. from Salve Regina University in 2009 and his J.D. from Roger Williams University School of Law in 2013. He is admitted to practice in New York.
