Prior to joining MCB, Shannon held an associate attorney position at a New York area law firm specializing in criminal defense. There, she provided legal defense for clients facing misdemeanor and felony charges, advising on strategic defense approaches and appearing in court on their behalf. Specific responsibilities included legal research; drafting and filing motions and briefs; investigating immigration consequences for prospective plea deals; working directly with District Attorneys; conducting pre-trial suppression hearings; and cross-examining witnesses. Prior to this position, she served as a paralegal at the same firm, gaining detailed exposure to all aspects of the legal process. Earlier still, she served in multiple legal internships and externships, acquiring invaluable experience in key legal areas such as research, draftsmanship, discovery, evidence protocol, and the trial process itself.
Shannon began her legal studies in the United Kingdom, receiving an Access to Higher Education Diploma (Law) from New College Nottingham in 2015. She subsequently earned her LL.B. (Hons) in American Legal Studies from Birmingham City University, graduating with First Class Honors in 2019. Shannon completed her legal education at New York Law School, where she was a merit-based Dean’s Scholarship recipient and served as President of the First Generation Professionals Society, earning her J.D. in 2022.
