Bill’s Brady’s success as a medical defense attorney has its foundation in his undergraduate degree in Biology and his life-long interest in medicine and science. His cases are often scientifically complex and involve multiple medical specialties, which he finds interesting and intellectually challenging.
For Bill, success in Court stems from an effort to be more prepared than his adversaries. Such preparation requires relentless fact-finding and research; intimate knowledge of every small detail of the case; and accurate anticipation of the opposition’s legal strategies and tactics. When it comes to his clients, Bill is not only responsive—he believes in frequent communication and follow-up about case developments, and he spends considerable time preparing them for their testimony at trial.
His 44+ years of experience include:
- Defending individual physicians, nurses and other medical professionals in medical malpractice cases involving multiple medical specialties, achieving defense verdicts in dozens of cases.
- Litigating a variety of health care related claims against physicians in New York State, such as in proceedings brought by the Department of Health.
- Defending claims against major teaching hospitals and individual physicians in numerous cases in state and federal courts.
- Representing physicians in Office of Professional MedicalConduct proceedings.
- Defending municipalities and individual clients against a multitude of general liability allegations.
Bill continually earns respect and praise from those he works with, and he has been selected by his peers for inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America© for Medical Malpractice Law – Defendants. He has been rated AV Preeminent® by Martindale-Hubbell®, their highest rating*, since 1998.
Utilizing his expertise in hospital litigation, Bill has played an active role in the participation and coordination of risk management lectures and past mock trials for the Firm and its clients. He is a mediator on the panel of mediators for the United States District Courts for the Eastern and Southern Districts of New York. Additionally, he enjoys mentoring Martin Clearwater & Bell LLP’s young Associates, passing along the knowledge he has gained from the Firm’s many skilled attorneys throughout his own career.
